Shangaan electro, an introduction to South African township electro dance
Probably seems terribly naive & badly written now - it was eons ago - but it helped give the Shangaan scene a bit of a lift off (I like to think).
Shangaan Electro is astonishingly fast electronic music (180 bpm) & is totally addictive. Its accompanied by wild dancing, face painting & bottom sticking outing. Wild stuff.
The biggest name in Shangaan land is Nguzunguzu and he’s just done a refit of Dave Quam’s Massacooramaan. You can listen above or download for free here.
